A conference interpreter is a qualified and professional interpreter who is familiar with various interpreting techniques (simultaneous, consecutive and negotiation interpreting).

In simultaneous interpreting, speech is interpreted at the same time as it is spoken. The interpreter sits in a soundproof booth and listens to the speaker through headphones, and the interpreting, which occurs almost at the same time – (i.e. simultaneously) - is transmitted by microphone and can be heard by the conference participants with headphones.

This type of interpreting requires utmost concentration and a high degree of professional competence. Due to the high level of exertion, simultaneous interpreters work in teams of at least two, alternating after a certain period of time.
